"Desiderata" (Latin: "desired things") is a 1927 prose poem by American writer Max Ehrmann. (the myth that it was from 1692 is incorrect) This is the correct version from the original poem. Some versions have altered the next to last sentence to read "Be Careful" ~ however, the author, Max Ehrmann wrote the line as "Be Cheerful"
